Rodrick J. Gaines was born and raised Texas, in a close and loving family.

In 2025, Rodrick reconnected with his longtime friend of more than twelve years, whom he married on May 15, 2025. Together, they sought a new beginning in Columbia, Missouri, where they could focus on building a positive legacy.

Rodrick is the creative force behind Holy Smok’D, a venture born from his love for cooking and the satisfaction of seeing others enjoy great food. Still in development, Holy Smok’D represents his vision of bringing authentic Texas-style smoked meats to the Midwest—merging his Southern roots with his renewed commitment to progress, purpose, and community.
